Members cadet4x4 Posted February 12 Members Report Posted February 12 I'm looking for resources to adjust/tune my new 75yr old sewing machine. I'm very new to leatherwork and found this machine It was setup for heavy leather work and I'll be using it mostly for bags and wallets. I'll need needles, thread, bobbins, as nothing extra came with. The reverse doesn't feed well, and the lower foot is leaving marks in the leather. I'd also like to look into converting the motor to a brushless or servo drive. Any input is appreciated. Thanks Quote
Members shoepatcher Posted February 12 Members Report Posted February 12 They did not come with reverse. This one had been retrofitted. Bobbins, order for 733 R Consew. Needle systems are 7x1, 7x3, 794. This machine will sew from #138 to #415 nylon and polyester thread. Bobbins same size as 97-10 bobbins. glenn Quote
CowboyBob Posted February 13 Report Posted February 13 @cadet4x4Yrs ago we used to put the reverse & highlift on these. We have the needles, bobbins & thread in stock. You'll need to let us know the current needle length. The bobbins should measure 3/4"x3/4". Quote
Members amuckart Posted February 13 Members Report Posted February 13 You may be setting yourself up for disappointment if you try and sew wallets on a 7-class machine unless you’re making extremely chunky wallets. They are not built for fine work. The needles and feet and holes in the feed dog are all huge and I’m not even sure it will tension wallet-appropriate thread without a whole lot of work. Quote
