Members Carriesleatherworks Posted February 17 Members Report Posted February 17 Casually ISO a cowboy outlaw hand crank sewing machine. Also if anyone has used one did you like it or not? So far I've seen fairly good reviews. Thanks Quote
Members Thadrick Posted February 17 Members Report Posted February 17 I really like mine however, I don't have a lot of experience with sewing machines. After a couple years of use I finally broke my first part yesterday. The cable to lift the foot broke and I'm hoping getting a new cable will be easy with their customer service? I have no experience with them either. Sewing leather up to 5/8 is easy as can be. Quote
Members Thadrick Posted February 18 Members Report Posted February 18 (edited) So, Like I was saying, Needing parts for my machine and got ahold of ryan. As I was talking with him (with CC in my hand) he said I owed him nothing? Turns out, my machine is lifetime warrenty. He said he would get my parts in the mail today. WOW!! Ive never had customer service like that before, I think Ill buy another Outlaw one tomorrow. Edited February 18 by Thadrick Quote

I'm hoping to find one used so it's a little cheaper but if I don't and end up buying one new would you mind sharing where you bought yours from? Thanks Quote
Members Thadrick Posted February 20 Members Report Posted February 20 I ordered my machine from Tandy and I ordered a bunch of other paraphernalia with it. I'm finding that I've not used any of the extras yet but with two machines maybe I can set the second one up to do different tasks easily? Just remember, these machines aren't fast, I don't need fast. I've been using it for large canvas projects and it's painfully slow for that kind of use. My job gets more stressful when it's cold [ like it is now] so I haven't had a chance to look for deals on the one I'm planning to order next. If you find a good deal pass it on to me. I'm still playing catchup around here. Quote

Save your money personally I think you will be disappointed with the abilities of the that machine it is not an industrial sewing machine. Those machines and their clones were meant as machines to repair sails when at sea. I have owned a few of the Sailrite machines and their clones. They are really meant for limited use in thin stuff. It will: i) leave marks in leather as the standard presser foot and feed dog are very aggressive. ii) uses a domestic Singer Class 15 small bobbin iii) thread size is limited to V92 thread iv) stitch length will vary as the thickness of the material increases and the list goes on. kgg Quote
Members Dwight Posted Saturday at 11:24 AM Members Report Posted Saturday at 11:24 AM If you want a good solid leather sewing machine . . . and you want a manual one . . . get a Tippmann Boss . . . I've used one for 20+ Years . . . their service is excellent . . . and it will sew 3/4 of an inch leather . . . I've done it. It will also sew up to 415 thread . . . I use 346 almost exclusively. It is the original hand machine . . . all others are poor copies . . . and personally if you gave me an outlaw . . . I'd never get it out of the box . . . seen them at Tandy . . . about as impressed with them as I would be a left handed crescent wrench. May God bless, Dwight Quote
Members badhatter1005 Posted Saturday at 06:54 PM Members Report Posted Saturday at 06:54 PM I agree with Dwight. I've been using a Tippmann Boss for over a year now and my business has improved exponentially. It is a hand crank machine so be ready to have that right shoulder broken in really good however the results speak for themselves. Quote
