Does the 29U 172A  ( Patcher )use a regular screw or a Singer screw to hold the needle in?

afaik its the same as on other 29Ks too

The reason I asked, is in another thread someone asked about screws for a Singer  20 U machine and was told they are not the singer thread.

I think singer machines with a U in the model are made in Japan.

Constabulary stated earlier it was screw  #544383 which is supposed to be the same as #237.  Specs   9/64" x 40tpi.  I would have bet it was metric since Singer changed a lot of parts and screws on the 29U series which was made in Japan not Kilbowie where all of the 29 machines were made after  1923.

Thank you for the info.  I have an very old Singer regular machine I will find and see if it has a screw that will work.
