Members erbunker Posted Wednesday at 12:24 AM Members Report Posted Wednesday at 12:24 AM Hi, i am new to this type of communication but have lots of years of tinkering on machinery... i have a 29K70 which was in pretty good shape, though not timed correctly - drive sheaves are loose on the main shaft, so the needle bar timing is anyone's guess... the most comprehensive manual i have found does not cover how to time the drive sheave on the mainshaft, nor the 'shuttle' (bobbin) cam & track to the (front) walking foot cam & track. actually, this manual shows a taper pin t each of these items - making it completely unnecessary to "time" anything on the mainshaft!! HOWEVER, my 29K70 does NOT have these taper pins - only the front walking foot cam track is pinned! So i am looking for information, photos, dialogue about how to set up the timing from installation of a new 29K70 mainshaft... thanks, any help will be appreciated. Eric Quote

Members GerryR Posted Wednesday at 06:23 PM Members Report Posted Wednesday at 06:23 PM Here is a service manual and parts list for the 29K71,72, 73. I don't know the differences compared to the 29K70. Hope it helps. Singer 29k71-2 Patcher.pdf Quote
CowboyBob Posted Wednesday at 08:46 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 08:46 PM I really doubt you'll find anything. The best thing to do is turn the machine by hand so the needlebar is all the way down, then turn the handwheel towards you until the needlebar rises approx 3/32" then turn the cam so the point of the shuttle is at the needle, tighten the screws on the cam, thread the machine & see if it sews & if the foot walks like it should if it does your very lucky (LOL) Then you can drill the hole for the taper pin.
