Members Yehdhdh Posted 16 hours ago Members Report Posted 16 hours ago Hi. I just purchased a commercial sewing machine it is an Aisin AD3310. I got a crazy question for you. Is it possible to sew in “reverse” on this machine? I thought in order to lock stitch you have to. If you look at the picture of my machine, is it missing a lever to engage “reverse?” If so, can I use a reverse polarity switch to reverse? Or can I get a part from a Toyota machine? any thoughts would help! thanks!! Quote
AlZilla Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago I know nothing about that particular machine, but I don't see an obvious reverse. This isn't really an unusual situation, generations of sewists never had reverse. This post describes "poor mans reverse", aka just what everyone used to do anyway: I have a couple of older machines w/o reverse and it's really no big deal. Welcome to the forum! Quote

Yes but it requires you to turn the item as per a poor mans reverse. 39 minutes ago, Yehdhdh said: I thought in order to lock stitch you have to. No, a lot of lockstitch machines never had a reverse level think of the old Singers. 39 minutes ago, Yehdhdh said: If you look at the picture of my machine, is it missing a lever to engage “reverse?” From your photo it appears to never had a reverse lever. 39 minutes ago, Yehdhdh said: If so, can I use a reverse polarity switch to reverse? Members Michiel Posted 16 hours ago Members Report Posted 16 hours ago (edited) Just a guess: Have you tried pushing the button you use to set the stitch length? Edited 16 hours ago by Michiel Quote
AlZilla Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago Well, now I want to go push that button. Here's a manual for a Toyota AD3310 that has reverse, but it's electrically controlled: https://www.supsew.com/wpfb-file/toyota-ad3310-series-pdf/ Aisin is a Japanese company - maybe their 3310 is a budget version. Push that button, @Yehdhdh ! Quote
1hp Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago on my 206rb5, the reverse lever shaft is on the right side of the head. there is a hole near your bobbin winder in a similar spot. Quote
