Members Piko Posted Saturday at 09:00 PM Members Report Posted Saturday at 09:00 PM I ended up getting this speed reducer. Now I am trying to figure put where to put it to drill the least amount of holes. If I install it like in the picture, I just have to move the motor over by an inch or 2 so possibly drilling just one hole (for the motor). But I lose the bobbin winder. If I placed it between the machine and the motor instead, I would need to move the motor further away from the machine drilling 3 holes for it but I would retain the bobbin winder. i am thinking of the first setup and loading the bobbin using a battery operated bobbin winder i purchase online. But it would be noce to also have the mechanical bobbin winder functional as it saves time. Anyone can think if a way to install the bobbin winder with the set up in the photo? Also, how do I measure the size of the belts I will need? One of them will have to be very small. Thank you in advance. Quote
Members nylonRigging Posted Sunday at 02:51 AM Members Report Posted Sunday at 02:51 AM (edited) Motor pulley belts to the Large pulley reducer, Small pulley reducer belts to machine hand wheel . 1st align smallest pulley reducer to sew heads hand wheel pulley, and drill, and bolt down . Then move drive motor to the align to the Large pulley of the reducer and drill and bolt down . Also, don't forger that you always have option to flip-over the Servo drive to Right or Left, as you have option to switch drive direction on the controller. Edit Add: .. that extra small carrier pulley on the bottom of the Sew Head for factory drive belt routing . Do you actually need this now ? Edited Sunday at 02:57 AM by nylonRigging Quote

I don't think you are going to get the bobbin winder installed with the motor and reducer pulley mounted on the top of the table. My approach would be a more conventional method of mounting the motor and speed reducer on the underside of the table top. Cut a long slot probaly about 6" long for the machine belt directly below the sewing machine handwheel inline with the belt pulley part of the handwheel. The belt would be straight down through the table top to the small pulley of the speed reducer. The bobbin winder would be then installed pretty much as it was before installing a speed reducer. 19 hours ago, Piko said: Also, how do I measure the size of the belts I will need? I would take length of string and wrap it like a belt would be around the pulleys, measure the length and add 2 inches to get the length of the belt needed. kgg Edited Sunday at 04:24 PM by kgg Quote
Members Constabulary Posted Sunday at 04:46 PM Members Report Posted Sunday at 04:46 PM when the motor is behind the machine you may have problems tilting back the machine for service / oiling. Quote
