Just getting into leather crafting and wanted to share my third project I've ever made, which is the first I've done without using a pattern.

Made a little scissors case for my wife out of some 3-4oz natural veg tan from Weaver. It was my first time using stamps, and it's definitely not perfect but I'm pretty happy with the result. Really happy with the stitching.

I'm loving leatherwork so far. Each project is an improvement over the last. I'd love to start a business eventually too. This is the first creative endeavor I've really had any success or confidence with. I totally see why my wife loves crafting so much!

Anyway, thanks for looking. Feel free to provide some feedback or tips to improve, I always love learning new things!

I think you got a great job of it. The stitching is straight and neat and you managed to keep that stamp aligned over the whole field. I think you've got a knack for this craft.

Nice for your third project.  If you don't have an edge beveler, pick you up a cheap one and practice on your edges. You have done great!

@rleather Thank you! I do have a beveler, just didn't go around all the edges of this piece.

I made a passport wallet as well recently, and I was really proud of the way those edges turned out. Although my stitching holes weren't quite as perfect with this one, I was still pretty happy with the result. I was using a stitching punch instead of a chisel for this one.

For a first effort at stamping you did well, you picked a tricky pattern but got it right. Some sort of stamping across the top would have given it a more finished look but it's still impressive.

First off, nice job. I especially like the idea of where you put the snap. You did well with the tri weave stamp (i don't know the actual name)

I think you'll find that the sharp points are going to get caught when shuffling around. I would have rounded the tip and the corners (like the left side in the pic). It just makes things less likely to catch. And bevel the edges as mentioned above.

Keep going. It's a great hobby to get into.
