Members kurtalderson Posted 18 hours ago Members Report Posted 18 hours ago Third time’s a charm. I made a wooden form to mold the 2-3 oz. veg-tanned leather. It could have been done in two pieces but the first two tries left me with barely enough for the third and happy result. This seat is closed-cell foam on a metal pan so contact cement was used. No staples. Hopefully it will hold up to riding. Finish is neatsfoot oil. Next bike saddle project is a plastic pan that will take staples. It will use the same wooden form for preliminary molding. Members TonyV Posted 17 hours ago Members Report Posted 17 hours ago Looks real nice. Store it dry and keep it conditioned and it should last for many, many miles. Did you use saddle leather? Quote
Members kurtalderson Posted 16 hours ago Author Members Report Posted 16 hours ago The leather is Tandy’s 2-3 oz. as that is what I had on hand. Herman Oak is sending some 1-2 oz. which will go on the next saddle cover. It is comfy for a beach cruiser, its primary purpose. Thanks for the comments! Quote
Members TomE Posted 5 hours ago Members Report Posted 5 hours ago Good looking seat. Still trying to work out how you constructed that shape. Like the valve stem caps too, and the fork reminds me of my brother's Lemon Peeler from the 1960s. Quote
CFM chuck123wapati Posted 4 hours ago CFM Report Posted 4 hours ago very cool !!!!!! and a very cool ride my friend, back in the day only the rich kids rode Schwinns and no one sold them around here, so there were only a couple in the whole town lol.
