Members memhave Posted Friday at 12:30 PM Members Report Posted Friday at 12:30 PM Hello! I thought Id be clever to use double sided tape on the flesh side for a template and then apply neatfoot oil. Unfortunately, the residue shows up through the neatsfoot oil even on some of the "clean" removals. I had a very long bendy piece of leather where there is a lot of the residue and I have no idea how to get it off. (Yes in hindsight, I shouldve stuck it on the back and poked through for holes but alas) Quote
Contributing Member fredk Posted Friday at 05:59 PM Contributing Member Report Posted Friday at 05:59 PM Try WD40; sprayed on a bit of rag and scrubbed into the leather just on the areas that need it Quote Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
FrankHester Posted Friday at 06:36 PM Report Posted Friday at 06:36 PM I would have to try a glue eraser to see if it would work. Such as this: Heavy Duty Adhesive Eraser — Tandy Leather, Inc. Quote

Members dikman Posted Saturday at 09:57 PM Members Report Posted Saturday at 09:57 PM Using any sort of solvent (which is normally what you need to remove glue) is likely going to be unsuccessful as the softened diluted glue will be able to penetrate the leather even more. An eraser like Frank suggested might work, other than that you're probably stuck with it. Put it down to experience. Members Littlef Posted yesterday at 03:54 AM Members Report Posted yesterday at 03:54 AM (edited) You can try goo-gone. It’s good at dissolving adhesive, however it may also discolor the leather. I’d think a dark stain would conceal it, but you might see discoloration if is going to be a natural or lighter color. Edited yesterday at 03:54 AM by Littlef Quote Regards, Littlef Littlef - YouTube

Moderator bruce johnson Posted yesterday at 06:07 PM Moderator Report Posted yesterday at 06:07 PM Sanding belt cleaner - it is a crepe rubber block available at about every hardware store. It is the same as the glue erasers that the craft stores sell except about 100 times bigger for about 2 bucks more.
