Northmount Posted Wednesday at 03:16 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:16 PM Google searches are failing. Just one recent example. I was searching for an item that had been in the news a few days before. I quoted words and year that were in that news item. I got results that didn't include the quoted items. Instead of 2025, I got 2013, etc. Instead of Calgary, I got Halifax and other locations. Totally useless results. If you have looked a some of the political YouTube videos, the commentator is text to speech. One went on about how all these different things had and were happening, and gave example from the future as if it had already happened. You can't trust YouTube for any truth in current events! Quote
Members Darren8306 Posted Thursday at 03:27 AM Members Report Posted Thursday at 03:27 AM Northmount, relevant of nothing, I have to recommend the Rochfort Bridge veggie stand. Their prices are a bit steep, but the parking lot is lovely. Just noticed you are south of me. I was in Calgary at the beginning of the internet (for me). Nice town. Try to get back regularly for visits, but I must admit a slight preference for Alliance Quote

The real craziness is the amount of bots and Ai"s ability to act human enough that there are "people" on every social media platform, even on this forum, that just aren't real, and we can't tell the difference anymore because it so advanced. I dropped out of the social media thing a long time ago, this forum being the only site i am on. Even here, I don't trust all the accounts to be real, and I think the other day i had one contacting me I had to report and block. Anyway, the post was just food for thought. Members Darren8306 Posted Thursday at 02:05 PM Members Report Posted Thursday at 02:05 PM I've been interested in censorship for decades. What surprises me most is how readily everyone accepts it. It's discouraging, because it seems to add to divides between people who don't really need them. Which I sometimes suspect is the really nefarious engineering... I was banned from facebook. Well, what actually happened was I dealt with them honestly. Last time I went to sign up, there was a checkbox that said 'I have read and...'. Fact is, I did not read the ToS. It would have been not only dishonest, but reckless to click the checkbox under those circumstances. With 'good actors' like my sweetheart, neighbour or run buddies, I can be casual and reckless. With a giant corporation who is deliberately unaccountable in any way I understand - not so much. I'm reminded of the recent invitation here to fill out a survey. It was the first post of an account, and the amount of information it included with its solicitation tells me only that it isn't what it says it was. Kind of felt bad for answering it, since I think one of the studies farmed out to AI is something like 'engagement farming'. In such a study, answering (or NOT) provides data to a bad actor. I've taken to answering the phone with 'who did you call to speak to?'. It's a quick way to identify if the call is for me, or spam. Oh, and my number spells an old-time dirty word, so I get to follow up with 'well YOU'RE the one who dialed '*#%$', not me... Quote

It's more than accepted; some folks will argue you to the death that it's just not happening. And now they have added misinformation ( blatent lies), and simple confusion to their playbook. I agree it's the prime motivator to public division currently. Wexit is a good example; we hear absolutely nothing about the movement in Canada and its six or seven years old and going strong, but they won't connect it to Trump's remarks about "taking over Canada"; they want the world to believe it's all about the orange-haired bad guy, not about the Canadian people's wishes for change. Or the protests in Europe over Immigration and especially the European governments destroying the farming industry as they have tried here. Nothing on the world news. I can only imagine what the world has not heard about our country. It all became very obvious after the stolen election here that mainstream media is actually the working arm of control for bad governments. And yea, we have all seen the governmental and economic collusion globally to rewrite human culture ( dilute the racial gene pool into nonexistence), whether we admit it or not. Don't get me wrong, I know the US is probably the worst. It's been going on at least since I arrived in Alberta in the late 20th century, so before he was really orange. If journalism is the first draft of history, then history is nearly as trustworthy as journalism... I enjoy asking people if there was ever a character smeared by the 'dirty, dirty smearmerchants', that they were wrong about? (the 'dirty, dirty smearmerchants' is a reference to whorenalists and presstitutes) Everyone seems to know they smear people for nefarious reasons, but has a really tough time with specifics. Especially Trump. Heck, even saying he seems like a nice chap, or has decent hair is too far. I kind of wonder if Carney will begin to get in trouble for saying nice things about him... Quote
