It turns out I was way overthinking it, lol. This edge is very easy, and the corners aren't as big a problem as i thought. Exactly my thoughts about tooling, carving, hand-dying and painting leather I just use pre-dyed chrome-tan without adornments, but with some effort put in for finishing edges. Everybody has their own preferences for aesthetics and how much time and effort they'd want to invest. That edge will work great and provide some stiffness to the pieces. I am pretty much cutting my teeth on Chrome Tan with this project. I love to learn new things, so I like to try to add something i havent done when making my personal stuff. That way, if I do want to make to sell, I have a decent pattern and skill set for it. I sell just as many or maybe more plain leather projects as I do tooled leather, and most of my personal stuff is plain or pretty close to it lol, Now that's my story lol, really my tooling sucks so no one would buy it !!!!! I like that pinked edge. Did you do that by hand? A new possibles bag is another thing I need to make.
