That's dark.  I knew AI was out to get us lol.

That is interesting.  I find when asking for feedback people tend to be "gentle".  It would be nice to have a source for feedback that didn't care about feelings.

I don't find AI any good at being 'ungentle'. It seems that it is reverting to rapport and kindness as a default. If you can prompt it out of that, I assure you it will drift back to it.

With no leatherworkers around me though, it does have a go, and can make me think about what I'm looking at a bit differently. I just asked it to tell me which fuse to try, and it was mushy in its verbiage. I suspect ignorance masked. Asked it to be specific, and circle it in the image (of the panel I had provided). It generated an image of a different fuse panel, and circled a fuse that wasn't even the correct colour/amperage.

Easier to sit inside and complain about Grok, than to stand outside in -50 trying to figure out how to push electrons.

I spent about 30 years working in a prison. I can be brutally honest if ya want me to lol, but the mods don't like it much. I'm relearning how to play nice nowadays.

Worked in a prison for 30 years if I aint shiny every time I comment its no big deal, I just don't wave pompoms.

That's the rub. AI is made to be friendly and to be gentle so unless you tell it to be brutally honest or entirely objective you will get things like "That's a great idea! No one has thought of something so unique!" but then you can run into a scenario where it will be a contrarian. If you say the sky is blue it will tell you it's actually a shade of cyan that resembles blue but is not actually blue.

Only humans are stupid enough to think they can build something better than the human brain. It's just another "herd control" method. IMO!!!

I agree.

Some time ago MS released an AI to the public so it could learn from the general public. Within one day it turned into a vial racist that agreed with the third reich. They had to pull the plug on it and added moral rules to the AI so it wouldn't do it again. The question comes to, who becomes the AI's moral law giver?

As a search engine or if you want to play around with AI it's fine but don't count on it if you really want solid advice. It's helped me keep my projects in order because I suffer from squirrel moments LOL

It's fun, for those of us who have lived or worked around men, but we have all kinds to entertain here.

I'm a bit soft, and have a tough time taking in criticisms at best, so I work at it. Here in typing-land, if someone takes the time to compose a criticism, I try to wring every drop I can out of it. In person, I seldom get useful feedback. I blame that on most people around me knowing nothing about leather. Combine that with 'everyone gets a trophy' communication style that is encouraged, and all I hear about is how nice my work is. If I believed all of that on its face, I would be bewildered as to why my products aren't selling like mad.

Of course, being in the habit of dismissing nice noises as polite bleating, has it's hazards too.

Unsolicited nice bleating is probably a sincere compliment, particularly if they don't realize it's something you made yourself.

Being wrong is just ONE of the hazards of cynicism in this lol. I can zero in on bad bits, at the mm scale, but sometimes it takes me awhile to zoom out and see the whole thing as easily as fresh eyes can.
