wildrose Report post Posted January 30, 2009 One of Dale's (Grandpa's Pastime) fine boxes. My sister asked me to make it for her youngest, as I'd done them for her other 2 children. wildrose Report post Posted January 30, 2009 Thanks It is inlaid, which is the biggest challenge for me: cutting it down just right but not too much. I was pleased as it was a tight fit. I glue it in with contact cement. The color is the old Tandy Saddle Tan Antique liquid. A favorite of mine! I bought a huge bottle of it from a store when I was seeking it a while back on this list. I first cleaned the leather with rubbing alcohol, let it dry overnight, and then stained it. I apply the stain by pouring on a generous quantity, then rubbing off the excess with a damp sponge. In this case, I think I rubbed off a little too much in some areas af the knotwork, but I didn't want to risk messing it up entirely by applying another coat just for that.
