Members Kani Posted February 13, 2009 Members Report Posted February 13, 2009 Nice case. I think the design would also look good on a pair of boots. Quote
Members Go2Tex Posted February 13, 2009 Members Report Posted February 13, 2009 Ah yes, I can see why you can command the prices you do. There is a lot of work goes into them. Now, I'm wondering how you achieved the effect. I can see you carved the flames, and I presume you then painted them after the overall dye. Am I close? Quote
Members Sasquatch Posted February 14, 2009 Members Report Posted February 14, 2009 This one is soooooo cool I had to comment, I,m a big fan of your cases and your work keep it up. Just one question what type of thread do you use for sewing? Mike Quote
JohnBarton Posted February 14, 2009 Author Report Posted February 14, 2009 Ah yes, I can see why you can command the prices you do. There is a lot of work goes into them. Now, I'm wondering how you achieved the effect. I can see you carved the flames, and I presume you then painted them after the overall dye. Am I close? The orange flames were just drawn lightly and dyed and then covered in resist. Then the white flames were carved and the outlines done in resist - then the black was applied. For the puzzle-piece latch and the bottom we did the same thing on the with the resist on the outline. The one thing that bugs me is that we didn't follow the curve exactly in some of the flame tips when we sewed the overlays on. This one is soooooo cool I had to comment, I,m a big fan of your cases and your work keep it up. Just one question what type of thread do you use for sewing?Mike We use nylon thread and wax it. Quote
