I don't know enough about the technical aspects yet, but that first piece looks to me about the neatest I've seen. stitching is clean, molding...it's all good~.

Thanks for all of the nice comments, everyone! I got some good coaching and insipration from all the posts.

Jordon - I find that my sewing looks better the more spi I do. This was 10 spi. I think the next one I will do at 8 spi and use a heavier thread.

I say its a great job, the sewing is attention to detail is very good and 1911s is a great choice too.

Thanks, Lui and Art.

I am looking and seeing things I'll try differently next time. This was a fun project and one that I never thought I would be attempting.

WOW!

That is nice work. I do not think my sticthing will ever look that clean.

I am more of a revolver man myself, but I did look at these and really like the laser sight coming with it.

Thank you, both. What a blast from the past! March of 09. Where'd the time go? My leatherwork has gotten better, but the shooting... not so much. :gun:

Crystal, To change the subject a bit, I'll tell you that I bought a GSG 1911 chambered in 22LR a while back. It shoots great, has a good trigger, good ajustable sights, and more. It costed $300, and is a great practice gun to help you improve with your Kimber. Ammunition is a fraction of the cost, and the pistol looks, feels, and functions just like yours. I'll bet you'd like one as well.

Very nice indeed, Crystal!  Your shooting will improve over time, thought you might want to get a 22 lr. conversion or pick up a dedicated 1911 22. Cheaper to shoot but the same mechanics and all the weapon controls are the same that way.

Good shooting and Fantastic Leather Work!

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Hubby has quite a few guns that he has me shoot and I do well with most. I am squeezing and getting a slight hand twist down and to the right. I have to work on controlling that and I think I will finally get a nice grouping!

Thanks again!

Check to see if you've got too much finger on the trigger, if right-handed. Ideally, the pad of your finger should fall across the center of the trigger face, rather than the tip or the crease.

Also, THINK "press" rather than "squeeze". Sounds silly. Works.

Excellent job! I've got to admit my first holster was not near the perfection as yours! Very nice stitching. Designed well.
