Here is a work in progress. It will be a quirt handle when I finish with it with a 48 strand horse rawhide braid that has a box and zig zag pattern that is hard to see but it really is there!!

Dang, 48 strands! That's gonna be cool Alan. Keep us posted as you go.

Really beautiful work... what size are the strings? And, how do you like horse rawhide - does it braid up better/worse than others?

Great looking handle! I really like the change in pattern. Is there a book that shows how to switch from pattern to pattern.

Thanks everyone! Horse rawhide is generally thinner than cow and maybe easier to braid with. The strands on the quirt are 2mm wide so a little less than 3/32". The book I have is in Spanish and it is from Argentina 'El Arte Gaucho del Cuero Crudo' by Hilario Faudone.

Very nice work. Now tell us when you will be done translating the book for us. LOL
