HarleyChef Report post Posted April 4, 2009 Here's one of the seats I'm working on. Thanks to Dave for answering my lacing questions, made it much easier! I don't have any upclose of the lacing, but it's triple loop. I'll update more as I progress. Thanks for looking! Gary
badjustice Report post Posted April 4, 2009 Gary, cool looking seat! Is that for a bicycle or a motorcycle? Matt
HarleyChef Report post Posted April 4, 2009 Gary, cool looking seat! Is that for a bicycle or a motorcycle? Matt Thanks man! It's going on a '90 springer. The seat in the picture is the insert for one of Kevin Baas's riveted pans. When I get the lacing done, I'll put it together and snap another pic. Scary Leatherworks Report post Posted April 4, 2009 I like that design. I always like to see skulls incorporated into things so that you have to give it a second look to notice them.
Kustomizer Report post Posted April 5, 2009 Looks nice! I like it, can't wait to see it on the pan.

Kustomizer Report post Posted April 8, 2009 Looks great! What thickness is the padding?
HarleyChef Report post Posted April 8, 2009 Looks great! What thickness is the padding? It's 3/4 inch closed cell neoprene foam, it's actually very comfey. It started out 1/2 inch, but the customer wanted to add a bit to it. Actually worked out really well. I just applied the first coat of oil last night...going to let the sun do it's thing and add a little antiquing to make some low-lights.
HarleyChef Report post Posted April 10, 2009 Just finished her up. Did 2 coats of oil, 4 hours in the sun, then 2 coats of light tan antique paste. Lemme know what you think! G

HarleyChef Report post Posted April 12, 2009 Thanks everyone for the compliments. This was my first non-upholstered seat. Did it for a friend to get something I could take photo's of and put up on a website. Not to mention, there aren't any leatherworkers in the Milwaukee area that do custom chop seats that I know of. It was a fun seat. Now I just need to work on splicing lacing and joining the front and back...that took a little while for me to figure out.
