Leerwerker Report post Posted May 10, 2009 I have three hat patterns - the first one you see as my 'logo' - the second is a Maverick (TV show) style and I do not like wearing it. SO, I made the third one - The Top Hat! I was lucky enough to get the color exactly as I wanted it - a blue shade of black.

Leerwerker Report post Posted May 10, 2009 Those are very, very nice. Do you have some kind of tutorial on how to make these? The patterns are available from the Tandy in Tennessee and Minneapolis and they come with very simple and easy instructions - following them very carefully - they holes are deliberate and when you sew the parts together, the hat builds itself! DreadPirateRedbeard Report post Posted May 11, 2009 I'm in Arizona so those stores would do me no good. I hang around with the Tophatters M/C when I'm in California and would dig making one of these to show up to a run with!

DreadPirateRedbeard Report post Posted May 11, 2009 check with the closets Tandy Store and see if they will get you the pattern. I'll have to do that next time I'm in the Valley, or I'll have my brother-in-law check it out for me. The nearest store to me is about 200 miles. I know I'll get the urge to do it without a pattern. I was looking at the pictures and it can't be too difficult. Some leather, yellow lace, black dye and some tooling work and I've got a nice gift for the club. Razz Report post Posted May 11, 2009 I'm thinking Leon Russel, was pretty much the guy for top hats in the sixtys and seventys and wore them well. Very cool looking, I like it very much. Some kind of conchos stars around the base would be my style. Very nice.

DonnieBlaze Report post Posted January 4, 2010 The patterns are available from the Tandy in Tennessee and Minneapolis and they come with very simple and easy instructions - following them very carefully - they holes are deliberate and when you sew the parts together, the hat builds itself! I checked with my tandy store here in baltimore and they told me those patterns were discontinued in the early 90's so if any one out there can fined them good luck they are not available here in bmore
