Internet Radio Favorites

Alright I am not the most internet savvy guy. This higher speed connection deal has enlarged my horizons though and a pal introduced me to internet radio a few days ago. Who'd a thought of that?? I am not exactly a mainstream listener of broadcast radio. One suggestion he made was www.ranchandreata.com. Streaming radio of mostly the western persuasion. Pretty listenable for me. Other than the Yahoo ads, Wylie doesn't get much regular airplay on the top 40 stations. He's here. Another site worth checking out is www.clearoutwest.com. A couple of horsehoeing brothers from Pinedale WY have an hour long weekly radio show. They have the current one streaming on their website, and the past year's episodes are archived. I downloaded some and saved them to CD. A little humor, history lesson, music, and poetry in an hour. These boys are funny. I am getting looks at the stoplights laughing in the cab by myself. Any other suggestions are welcome.

You can go to shoutcast.com and choose your music by genre too. I am fond of Audiocandy's Big Blue Radio out of Spokane, Washington. (blues, folk & rock) If you're going to listen to Internet radio, do yourself a favor and download WinAmp (it's free) so you can set radio "presets" and have all the other conveniences. Many FM stations now "stream" their broadcasts, too, so if you like a particular station, check their website. The NPR site has archives of past shows and streams, too.

Ah the marvel of ergatrons. I Love the idea of being able to sit in Australia and listen to radio in another country. I have a couple of favourites on the computer back home. Lets see if I can remember them. I sometimes just use launchcast and pick from the various genres.

best that I've found is pandora.com. you can choose by genre, or better yet type in your favorite artist or song and it'll play bands similar to that. if ya don't like a song, simply give it the thumbs down and never hear it again. give it a thumbs up and it'll get a little heavier rotation. you can also set up multiple "stations" and pick which ones to play, just one of 'em, or all of 'em. you can also find out more about the song, band and album. I've got about 100 gigs of tunes on each 'puter and I don't even listen to 'em anymore, just pandora for the last few years.

There is just something about listening to radio from another land.

Even though it's in perfect english (ok... almost perfect LOL) it still sounds exotic!!!

Shepparton hey. If you ever stay in Shepparton do not stay in the Pub across the road from the only doof doof night club. If you must stay there, ensure your room is not directly above the only taxi rank in town. It gets very interesting at 3am where the Queens English is not liberally used.

Me, I got to have my XM radio. Although it's not free I listen to it online at work, in the car and at home. Can't stand commercials! Bob Beard turned me on to it.

The late concert promoter and owner of the Fillmore east and west Bill Graham's web site. Lots of origional concert posters, ticket stubs, t-shirts ect.

Click on the Concert Vault. Theres a bunch of classic rock concerts from the 60's through the 80's. You can listen to the whole concert for free or pay for the concert if you want to download it.

I absolutely LOVE pandora.com!!! You can create custom channels of your own for ANY type of music you like, and it routinely adds new stuff to the play list from their library that is like what you pick. I've found tons of new artists I like from there. (Like Chris Thile! Wow!) If they play something you don't care for, you can tell them so, and they won't play it, or others like it. You can build multiple channels; I have about 6 different channels for different types of music I like. And it's totally free.
