Members ps0303 Posted June 28, 2009 Members Report Posted June 28, 2009 Just put the finishing touches on it this moring. 8oz top with a 4oz backing. This will definately hold my gun real well. All hand stitched and boy do I want a machine now after doing this. It feels real good to be done and I am ready for my next one. Quote
Bree Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Looks real good. Your stiching is quite good... very professional looking. You can be proud of having a handstitched, custom made belt. Great job! Quote
MADMAX22 Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 (edited) Nice looking belt, these thick handsewn guys are really nice things to have. I havnt tried mine with my gun yet but will soon. Im thinking it will be a much improvement over my other flimsy storebought guy. Wanted to say also that your stitching looks fantastic. Great job. Edited June 29, 2009 by MADMAX22 Quote
Members carljc72 Posted June 29, 2009 Members Report Posted June 29, 2009 Nice job on the belt. I have been putting off making one because of the hand stitching. How long did it take to hand stitch it? Carl Quote
Members ps0303 Posted July 1, 2009 Author Members Report Posted July 1, 2009 It took me about 3.5 hours. It did it over a few days in the evening. The stitching was done in three sections because I wanted to break up the amount of time I was sitting doing it and also it's hard to have a ton of thread out when doing it by hand. People at work were amazed with it and that it was done by hand. Thanks everyone for the nice comments! Quote
Members Shorts Posted July 1, 2009 Members Report Posted July 1, 2009 Excellent work! I wear mine everyday. What kind of dye and finish did you use on it? You aren't kidding about the humongous length of thread while sitting there hand stitching. I'm kind of getting that doing a belt by hand gets one a badge of honor...or merit badge....something! lol Like a Frat or Sorority to go through 'the pain' Anyway, nice job. Quote
Members chataw Posted July 1, 2009 Members Report Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) hello every one Am new in this good site but old in leather wotks I see what you did is very nice work for hand made Wahy don’t you try my style You need tow layers of leather eache one of thickness 3 mm ,the first one goes under and the color is dirty white ( expose to sun for one day ) the opper layer shouls be dark or light brown ( looks like huny) and join them with supper robber glow , then use single stitch or dubble narrow stitches with dark biege color and for the metal object use revolver thing here are some photo good luck every one [/size chatawleather.com Edited July 1, 2009 by chataw Quote
