new tool rack

I made a new tool rack out of oak. Check it out, and tell me what you think. My stropping block also got in the pictures, although it is not done yet. What is best used to secure a piece of leather to my oak stropping block?

The Dunkin Donuts coffee was an extra in the picture. I had to use my kitchen stove for a place to apply the poly because of the exhaust fan. If I left it to dry outside my apartment complex some useless thief would run off with it, like they do with everything else.

I'm working out making one of these tool holders as well. A buddy of mine warned about the chemicals in the wood taking the finish off my tools over time. Anyone have any experience with this? He suggested sealing the wood with something after I drilled all of the holes. Dustin, you might look at Woodweld for attaching your leather to the stropping board. It's cheap at Lowes or Home Depot, and states on the label it works on leather.

Thanks Kenny, I will definately check that out. I used oak on mine, but I used cheap drill bits. Dont make that mistake. Find some good fosner bits. Youre holes will look alot better.

the tool rack looks great. lots of room to expand.

as far as putting leather on the strop board, i used barge cement. leather is still stuck on the block and been using it for 2 years now.

as far as the tools discoloring from chemicals in the wood do not use ceder.

i used ceder to make a drill bit storage block. the drill bits started to rust after 2 months in the ceder block.

i changed over to walnut block and had no problems with bits rusting.

as long as you use a good hardwood like walnut or oak you will not have any problems with tools rusting/discoloring.

I used oak for my tool rack. It works great, I love it.
