I made these on Saturday in hopes of wearing them to the faire on Sunday - then we got rained out. :(

What a bummer!! But the Bracers look fantastic. What did you use to color and finish them with?

Great looking bracers!!!

The borders are neat and I like the shape on the bottom edge.

Nope, Sterling Ren Faire in Sterling NY (up by Lake Ontario).

The bracers got dyed Fiebing's Tan on most of it, but the tooled center cross got done with a dark brown, then sealed the whole thing with Leather Shene. After that dried, I drybrushed the cross to a red up from a maroon, maybe three different colors, with acrylics, then re-sealed it with the spray Shene.

Just curious, why doesn't anyone make bracers more like leather "Cowboy cuffs", that is with the top portion of the bracer permanently closed and the laces, buckles or whatever on the bottom half to draw it up tight, it would make them a bit easier to put on.

I make mine like this because I fight in them, and I want them tight on my arms, particularly if they're on an arm holding a shield.

Really nice job!

you use bracer under you shield?

do you wear a gambison under the armor?

I usually go :gambison, chaine or metal scale, cloth (tabar) then leather

my shields have all leather stapping and I used a bouble thickness gambison on that arm.

Gambeson and bracer under shield is enough for me. My chain hauberk is only half sleeves.
