Tkleather1 Report post Posted August 11, 2009 Well here is the latest project that I completed. It is7/8 oz Herman oak. Lined with pig. the Gusset is Bone chap leather from the hide house. it is a pretty straight forward pattern. the enclosure is magnets under the buckles, I used Bontex for the stiffener but I think thes might be the last of that because once its stuck there aint no gettin it up. I used a Barry king Basket stamp, light EVOO and my neet-lac replacment applied with sheep skin. Let me know what you think. I am still workin on the edges but dont know what to do when using chap leather as a gusset.
Storm Report post Posted August 11, 2009 I think this looks great. Beautiful work. I might suggest that the next on incorporate like tome sort of padding as an extra added protection for the computer.
MADMAX22 Report post Posted August 11, 2009 OUtstanding looking job. Looks really good. Couple of questions, EVOO whats that and what did you use as your neatlac replacement. Your finish looks really good. Very clean and smooth. As far as the edges I think the only thing you can do is maybe dye them but other then that no clue. I know with suede I can get a slight burnish with some bees wax and my tool. But thats usually when I layer it with vegtan so it keeps it rigid while doing the edge. MadMaxx EVOO is Extra Virgin Olive Oil. and I use Saddle lac applied with Sheep skin NOT SPRAYED it spots real bad when sprayed. and then I use tankote as well. Thanks to all. Windom Leather Report post Posted August 11, 2009 Nice job Tim, I would have to agree about trying to pad the case some. But other than that outstanding, I like the pattern you used and everything looks smooth. Thanks for sharing. Will
