RuehlLeatherWorks Report post Posted August 26, 2009 This was my first attempt at a historic girdle pouch. Let me know what you think! 4 oz, oil dyed leather.
jana Report post Posted August 26, 2009 Nice! I like the look of it. Is it made from two pieces of leather, the back and flap and the pouch front? Will you be adding pouchlets to your next one?
MHolzer Report post Posted August 26, 2009 I like the shape of the front
RuehlLeatherWorks Report post Posted August 27, 2009 It is made from two pieces, but no, I'm not adding in pouchlets yet. My next pattern is going to be a double-pouch design with a cloth lined flap-pouch. I'm progressing through the styles from the most basic (The one I've posted here) to the more complex ones such as the ones with buckles, pouchlets, and wax tablet holders. Suze Report post Posted August 28, 2009 what is it design for Food? money? personnal item? paper? Yes -- A girdle pouch was the "pocket" of the day
RuehlLeatherWorks Report post Posted September 5, 2009 I retouched my first pouch and did a second one. I like the natural color of the second one. I'd like to do some tooling on the maroon one, but I've already posted it for sale.

tashabear Report post Posted October 19, 2009 Hey fellow crafters, I am looking for patterns of mid- evil pouches like theon shown, is their anyone of you that can help me with this? or show me the right direction towards patterns? Cheers, Gunter If you want documentable patterns, look for the book Purses In Pieces by Olaf Goubitz. It's very readable, has great detail about the different types of pouches and when and where they were worn, and has fabulous pictures and recreations of the items that were unearthed. If you want ren faire stuff... I have no idea. It's not really my gig. There are too many interesting things to make from documentation to spend a whole lot of time reinventing the wheel.
