TomSwede Report post Posted September 23, 2009 Hi all!! Sorry for abscence!! I have my butt full and compromises has to be done. Customers and various sideprojects with some of them who has now become my friends takes alot of time. Anyways, an old friend of mine found me on facebook and as it turns out her hubby is a tattooartist and she wanted a bracer to surprise him with. A skull and the company name NM TATTOO was mandatory other than that I got totally free hands. I decided to go with an old school design and play some with dyes and brushes and try to top myself. There is a statement from that I'm not very good with dyes and brushes and I still stand by that, More training needed but I got this one down to my full satisfaction. IT is a bit dark and that came efter I applied Leatherbalm and buffed it. The sword is thinned down black. Skull and banner is antiqued. Most contours have been lifted but I didn't go all in on that. A bracer will be used alot and I think that in short time lifted areas will recess from daily use. The leafs got the most lift. Critique is as allways welcome!!! TheTrooper Report post Posted September 24, 2009 Hi Tom, good to see, you´re OK. Nice bracer, and yes I think you have toped yourself What kind of colors have you used on the flowers ??! -Are these dry brushed and highly diluted fiebings dyes ?!? Keep up the good work. Cheers, Marcel
TomSwede Report post Posted September 27, 2009 Thanks all!! Marcel, Yep, it is Fiebings pro oil dyes and diluted. Hmm, I mixed the green dye myself with blue and yellow colour thinned down with alcohol. I also used diluted black (very diluted) to work with shading on the flowers and leafs. I did not use drybrush technique! Tom
