I like those, all of them are great looking well made sturdy pieces.

The croc pouch is very cool, and the edge braiding is excellent.

Did you scrimshaw the wolf image yourself or buy that seperately as an insert?

Hallo Denster,

many thanks - you`re right, stingray comes super but isn`t easy to handle for an inlay !

Hi 8thsinner,

thanks to you too - I´m very pleased !

the "croc pouch" is´nt croc it is made of ostrichleg !

the scrimmed wolf-inlay is made by a good friend - he is an hobby-scrimshander and I think he does a realy good job.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you and your family and kindest regards from Germany,

Fritz

Even an aussie suggested to me it looks like a camen, (like a fresh water croc)

OOPS

Well fair enough, it's good looking either way

@ 8thsinner :

I think ostrichleg is a very interest and cheep alternative to croc and looks realy good !

@ leather bum :

all my sheathes are handstiched with trout-thread ( in German "Forellenfaden" )

A friend of mine recently came back from africa and australia and brought a few ostritch wrapped gifts, I was handed an ostritch lighter, but she was also talking about prices of the ostritch products and the impression I got was that the stuff is not cheap, perhaps thats a tourist thing though.

Still...thanks for sharing

ok - there are two kinds of ostritchleather I know - the first ( I think it´s what you talk from ) comes from the body of ostritch and is in 1a quality very expensive - the second is made of the legs of that big bird . Here in Germany there are dealer selling ostritchlegs between 15-45 Euros addicted by size and quality.

by the way - please excuse my weak English - it needs a couple of time for me to drop a few lines and I have to learn as much !

best regards, Fritz

What is trout-thread made from? I just really like how smooth and finished the stitches look and would like to be able to make mine look that nice. . . The polyester thread I use looks kind of rough.

Hi Micah,

my trout-thread is made from braided nylonthread and is waxed - available in several colors between black and white and I got it in size of 0,7mm and 1,2mm .

I`m shure that this thread is the best choice for a "smooth and clean" stitching !!!

Going back to the ostrich scabbard, what style of lacing did you do? I like your lacing and all your pieces have a nice flow

Merry Christmas

Hi Tim,

thanks for your nice words !

I think my style of lacing is called "spanish loop" in English, but I`m not shure ? In German it´s called "Doppelschlingstich" and I hope, you understand.

Merry Christmas to you and your family

Good looking sheaths Fritz

Hi "Romey"

I visited your website and agree with your words:

"A well made sheath is nearly as important as how well made the knife is, they are a package, one is useless without the other." !!!

many thanks to you !
