Ambassador leatheroo Posted January 12, 2008 Ambassador Report Posted January 12, 2008 Finished another mask, i have called him the Warrior. Proudly modelled on the head i use for mask molding. I resisted the urge to quick dry in the oven and let him dry overnight! Quote "]http://leatheroo.blogspot

Members Tina Posted January 12, 2008 Members Report Posted January 12, 2008 Really nice mask, me like:-) What kind of colors do you use for the masks? Quote "He who works with his hands is a laborer. Ambassador leatheroo Posted January 12, 2008 Author Ambassador Report Posted January 12, 2008 Freak, it is only one piece of leather, but i'm not sure what the weight would be...here in australia leather is sold by the thickness. This leather is veg tanned calf skin and is call 1mm. This is about the thinnest leather i can find. Tina, i use a combination of leather dyes and acrylic paints. This mask was black leather dye with a touch of gold added. The red (the photo makes it look pinkish) is an acrylic fabric paint that is luminescent. I use an airbrush to apply then apply a spray of sealer. cheers Quote "]http://leatheroo.blogspot
ferret Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 1mm=2-3 oz. nice work Roo, you've got me tempted to have a go at trying a mask Quote Politicians are like nappies, both should be changed regularly for the same reason.
Drac Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 mighty snazzy! something else I need to find the time to figure out how to make. Quote frissenfrassenmussafrussen...
HorsehairBraider Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 Wow, that's awesome! I love the detailing on the top part. And what a great finish! Your "head" is also very cool. I have some heads from back when I made hats, but they are just styrofoam, nothing nearly that fancy and life-like. Quote They say princes learn no art truly, but the art of horsemanship.
