roo4u Report post Posted February 13, 2010 i would melt the ends of the rope before i covered it up that way it cant come apart inside the bosal from use. i used my cord sealer i use for paracord but a HOT knife or similar works also...just be careful to not melt more than you wanted to....been there dont that it way not cool. after that maybe bind the ends with a rawhide ring knot that can shrink up real good and tight to keep end together. lilpep Report post Posted February 15, 2010 BRock if you want to do something that looks like a turks head it would be a footrope knot. an excellent example or tut is in KHWW.net under extended diamond knot or as part of dan alaskas LIttle lump knot tutorial at the alaskamuseum of knots. it can easily be done. all it is similar to a multiple string nose button just crown the leads and wall at the botom then proceed a as in a multiple string nose button. the other thing you i might do it crown them down and this will help build the base for your heal knot. hope it helps
rgerbitz Report post Posted February 15, 2010 Looks good so far. You could also put a couple wraps of electrical tape on the ends of the rope, or even some super glue.
lilpep Report post Posted February 15, 2010 actually on second thought super glue to keep from fraying is a good idea !!!

">My link I recon ya have done a very good job mate , a little twist on the righthand side of the nose button but thats not the end of the world !!!! a few more and i am sure they will be as straight as a die!! I cant quite see the bottom of the heel knot but have you put put a concho on the bottom or is that tape ?? THE HORSE THAT USES THIS BOSAL IS A LUCKY HORSE Cheers Bevan
entiendo Report post Posted March 29, 2010 I can't find a thing wrong with any of your work. I love it! And I still do a lot of my buttons like you described for me. I still can't get over what a difference it makes. I also love that you are making a floppy hackamore. I'm not crazy about the rawhide cores in most of the traditional hacks. Did you ever get that bridle made you were asking about?
brock Report post Posted June 4, 2010 Here is the final product! It took a while for me to get them posted! Hope some of you could give me some feedback on what you think I could do differently next time. I must say I read somewhere on here from one of the more experienced people that he had tried all types cores in hackamores and he always goes back to rawhide and as I usually find out later that I agree completely!!! The rope core works but it dosent shape really nice like a braided core does!!! I'm still happy with the results its probably only the 20th hackamore that I've braided! rgerbitz Report post Posted June 9, 2010 Looks good Brock, the only thing I'd change is to cover the cut strings on the bottom. Other than that iverything else looks very well done.
