Belt Edging

I've been working on trying to get a better edge (slick / black) on my concealment belts & holsters for sometime now. I have no problem burnishing but, as I have posted in other areas, the Atom Wax lifts the Edge Ink off and once the Ink is off it's impossible to redye. Thus a do-over.

My question: #1 Is Resolene a Sealer or a Top Coat? (I've never used it before). #2 Is there a Sealing product that I can put over the Edge Dye that will NOT lift it off.

I'm going to try several ideas that I got off Leatherworker.net tomorrow(Bobby Parks - tutorial for one) but need to cement a "how to" by Tues. A major project coming up & will have no time, after that, to experiment.

Particularly if you're in a rush, but anyway ... stick to what Bob P. wrote. It's very close to what I've done and has always left good results.

I have found that Gum Tragacanth works very well for me, it seals the edges and I've never had a problem.

There ya go.

I still have to do mine by hand but use a similer method.

First edge then dye

follow up with glycerine saddle soap

then I shape with my wood edger that I made, usually this gives me a smooth round edge

then follow up with some bees wax, take the jeans fragment or whatever to this and rub it in nice and good

Once your all done with that it should look pretty darn good, I usually follow up with whatever I am sealing the belt with as this will put a final sheen to it.
