Singer 132K6 Looking For Manual

I recently bought a Singer 132B7, which I believe is similar to the 132K6 (if anyone knows the difference I would like to know). I am looking for a manual for basic maintenance, use and repairs. I have managed to find a parts manual, but was hoping to find more.

I have been looking for a manual for the 132k6 myself and would be quite willing to pay a reasonable price for an original or copy.

I am a retired sewing machine dealer. Started as an apprentice mechanic in 1942 and have experience on many types of machines, industrial and domestic. The first machines I worked on were the 31k15, 81k3, 111w 138w etc. which were quite modern then. As it was during WW2 it was very difficult obtaining parts (even needles) so we had to really ' make do and mend'

I have a lot of manuals and reference material collected over the years and hope to contribute to your site.

I have a Singer 132k6.

Have had it for about 3 years. In my shop it is the heavy machine in the group. as a tailor I don't have much call for machines of this type but I enjoy having the ability of stitching heavy stuff.

needless to say the 123k6 sits for long periods of time. most of my regular clients know I have it and it sees and hour or two a week.

When I bought it there was a stitch length issue with it and it had to go back to see the mechanic. My relationship with my supplier is very friendly and if I need to learn something they tend to be vary helpful. anyway, he showed me how to lock down the stitch length adjuster so it will not move. that was fine up until 3 weeks ago when a client requested a shorter stitch.

I gladly adjusted the fastener that locks up the system and got to the job at hand only find that the adjustment didn't hold and that I was the owner of a new belt... lol

After the new belt acquisition processes I spoke with my client and we decides to get out the tools for a second time. now using scrap we tried again to find out I'm not as well versed at sewing machine maintenance as I had thought.

so my quest for a singer132k6 service manual began. I found a few parts manuals but the service manual STILL alludes me! Turns out Singer never wrote one. and after looking over the parts manual it is a simple list with photos. Not an exploded view. at least with an exploded view I could see if my mechanism was missing a part etc. so I called singer.....

the Folks at Singer were vary nice and help full. With the serial number they told me my machine was born on Oct.12 1943 in Scotland in the Kabul factory (67 +years old!!! that baby still runs)

what did I learn from this info? well there was a diffrent mesurement standard in use then called the "British standard" or BS for short no wonder they converted to metric. understaqnd that I have many tools and none fit properly What is needed is a 7.5mm end wrench to hold the nut that locks the mecinsum. Making things worse the other end of the fastener is a flat head screwdriver on a 90. A BS flathead slot.... Snap on man here I come....guess what? snap on no longer make BS tools. After some begging I contacted a gent in the industrial tood department and they are making a custom 7.5 mm box end for me. I figure my machine is missing a lock washer. lol I have to laugh because no standard washers fit. Custom lock washer custom tools and she LIVES Again.

You say you hav a 132k6 but no instruction manual. Looking through various post in this and other forums it would seem that none are available, only parts manuals for this machine. Can I ask you if you would be good enough to take some close up photo's of the side of the machine showing the walking foot mechanism with the foot up and down.and send them to my email address r.djenkins@btinternet.com I will then make an instruction page for it. and make it available to others.

Yes most people say that Singer never made a user manual for the 132K6 or the 45K, however they did, but they are rare. I have an original of both, the K6 I have on disk and can send anyone a copy free of charge if they want one. It doesn't matter how many googel searches you do you'll never find this manual, though I have given it to a few friends and clients so I guess it will start to circulater soon. They also did cardboard cards with some brief info. Be aware though that the manuals are quite small and really dont tell you a lot. I think its more the nice feeling of having one. Regards Steve

May I suggest that you contact www.ismacs.net and offer the PDF files to them? I know they have a database that they would store it and make it available to the public. That way it would be searchable and save you time emailing everyone who wants one.

I have just got myself a 132k6 and am learning how to operate it. I would be greatful if you could send me a copy Steve. It have a bigger motor on it than it should have so it is very fast. I am getting a smaller pully to put on the motor so it's not as fast. The smallest the sewing machine shop guy said he could sell me is a 50mm. It has a 75mm on it at the moment. I need to learn to change stitch lengeth and what a few things are for so I'm hoping the user manual will help with that.

If it is too fast for you I recommend buying a servo motor for it.

That is what I did with mine and it makes a world of difference

A servo motor will replace your current clutch motor and slow it down to a crawl.

It makes it a lot more manageable for me.

I now have a verve motor in my machine and it is great, I am still learning how it works but have the basics and it is fantastic.  I got it from Stewarts sewing centre in Devonport. I am having issues with the timing and have searched the net for some clear help to correct the timing. Do you know of any good links to set the timing for these machines?

Thanks for the manual, just acquired a 132K6.  It threaded up ok and picks up bobbin thread but doesn't seem to feed the material unless I pull it through. It just jams up and makes a mess!  The dogs seems to be working correct when you manually turn the wheel with no material. Now have snapped only needle and waiting for Ebay replacements.  It had a 180 so have ordered the same.    Wondering if the foot is pressing down too hard?  the manual doesn't appear to explain the adjustment labelled (1) on Fig. 4 page 7.  Can anyone help please?
