Members chouinardragon Posted March 26, 2010 Members Report Posted March 26, 2010 Hi guys, What kind of lamp do you use on your worktable while you do leather works? I still don't have a lamp on my worktable, I think I need one. And I just found one I like, but I don't know what is it called? Picture as attached which I downloaded from Quoddy. Anyone can ID that lamp? Anyway, tell me what kind of work lamp you use? Picture? Chris Quote
Members westtxcowboy1979 Posted March 26, 2010 Members Report Posted March 26, 2010 I just bought one a few weeks ago at big lots. It was 29 dollars it's a full specturm light it's the brightest light I've ever had on my work bench well worth the money. Quote
Contributing Member TwinOaks Posted March 26, 2010 Contributing Member Report Posted March 26, 2010 Natural light when available, and run of the mill compact fluorescent lamps in the evenings. ..something tells me that Ed is gonna have a book to write on this topic....... Quote
TimKleffner Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 All my bench lamps are standard long neck desk lamps. All my bulbs are the new spiral fluorescent bulbs 100 watt and 6500k. All my 4 foot wall florescent lights have 6500k that give me day light white light. I've got bad eyes and the doc recommended to me the high kelvin bulbs. Happy tooling Tim Quote
Suze Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 I use Ott-lite brand lamps for my crafting needs nice bright lights and full spectrum as well but not cheap - I got mine from Jo-Ann's Fabrics Quote
Members whinewine Posted March 27, 2010 Members Report Posted March 27, 2010 Ott Lite & Verilux. Both purchased on sale - $25 for Ott (was originally $150, but was store display) & about the same for the Verilux (at Ollies Discount Merchandise). russ Quote

esantoro Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Another nod for the compact spiral 6500k/daylight fluorescent bulbs. Another question is a good movable lamp to put the bulbs in that isn't going to lose its tensioning/positioning in six months. My favorite lamp is a Danray gooseneck. I enjoy using that Magnetic base lamp with aluminum hood from harbor freight, but there have been a few times where the magnet didn't hold as strongly as it should have. ed I'm with Tim - those spiral daylight bulbs are amazing!
