Leather Necklace 8 Braid Over Core

Braiding and knots have always been a challenge for me...so this year i have made a big effort to improve and extend myself.

Here is a necklace i made....it is a 8 braid over a core with some knots at the end....the guide i followed said it was a gaucho braid and it had four steps that had to be repeated....so i had to undo it a few times when i lost concentration!!!!

hey bevo.....this was the first time i have done this braid...i am not sure how it was meant to turn out, i dont mind the way it looks and actually like the textured result as against the smooth look of a normal braid, but any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

Braiding is a good skill but hard to get into, just gotta set your mind at it.

I think you have done a very nice piece and your knots are to be praised , they are splended !!!I know when i make whips i like to keep it nice a tight and i am not saying yours should be that way !! but if you wanted to get them tighter i use this method dia x 4.5 devided by how ever many strings i am going to plait , so lets say the core is 8mm x4.5 = 36 devided by the string you want to use 8 = 4.5 if you wanted 12 strings it would be 3 mm and so on , dont get me wrong i like what you have done ! just offering some knowledge if you wanted to go the smooth look
