Tandy Belt/holster Clip

Recommended Posts

I bought several belt/holster clips from Tandy for carrying a cell phone on my belt. I notice it comes with a single hole at the very bottom of the clip. This doesn't make much sense to me. I"d like to keep the phone case riding pretty high, but if I rivet it there, seems to me the case will swivel and turn upside down. How is this supposed to work. Is it only designed for longer items such as holsters?

Thanks, Tom

As far as I know, they aren't meant to swivel from there--I've always seen them riveted to a piece of leather that is then sewn onto a holster/sheath, or slipped through a slit in a piece of leather and riveted down.

Thanks Noah, I can see that. If the clip is slipped through a slit in the leather and then riveted it would work fine. Thanks!

Tom, . . .

I had the privilege of making a couple of cell phone holsters a few weeks ago, . . . guy was pretty certain of what he wanted: Completely covered all around (used 7/8 oz shoulder) with a flap over the top, only about 1/2 inch coming out the top for two "I" phones he carries, one on each side of his belt.

Instead of a clip or a regular "pass through" belt loop, . . . I riveted a loop of leather to the bottom of the case and put snaps on the bottom of the loop. He had the beauty of a full size loop going across the back of the holster, . . . and with the snaps on the bottom, . . . didn't have to take off his belt to take off the holster.

He was thrilled with them.

Any more that I do, I'll do the same, . . . clips can ruin a beautiful belt, . . . to say nothing of ripping off a fingernail if you aren't careful.

May God bless,

Dwight
