Buckles, I have found, are really a personal matter with the wearer, . . . so I make the belt, . . . but it is BYOB (buy your own buckle). Very rarely have I had THE buckle the buyer wanted, . . . but I do have some just in case.

I personally prefer a small Western type, . . .

May God bless,

Dwight

I usually just put on a standard, inexpensive buckle in either brass or nickle finish. Tandy sells them for a few bucks a piece. Some like them; I do, but I figure the rest will discard them and buy what they want.

I have never supplied a buckle with a belt. I think most of my customers had buckles for which they needed belts made...

If your talking about buckles for gun-belts, I prefer the nickel plated roller buckles that tandy sells. They're a buck or two depending on size.

I make belts to customer specifications, of course, so a variety of widths and buckle styles can be needed. Most of my special order belts have been for use with the customer's buckles so I just make to specified width, etc.

My standard belt design is 1.5" width around the body tapered to 1" at the front, which I have found to improve comfort. So, I provide 1" buckles with those. I have been using the #5 and #Z5 buckles from Weaver's, solid brass and chrome-over-brass, and these do a good job. Prices are very reasonable, and quantity purchases offer even better economy.

Weaver's also stocks the Jeremiah Watt "Horseshoe" brand of harness buckles in stainless steel, cast with an engraved pattern in either plain or with black enamel accents. These buckles are very heavy duty and lie nice and flat with even the thickest belts. These provide a great custom look for a very reasonable price. Also, being stainless steel, these will not tarnish and there are no issues with plating wearing through. Any scratches or dings can be fixed with a quick turn at the buffing wheel.

I just placed another buckle order with Weaver's a few days ago. As usual, their customer service reps provide great service and deliveries are always fast.

You must have an account to order from Weaver's, and a business license is required.

I prefer a solid brass or white bronze clipped corner buckle from Will Ghormley for my gun belt. That or the round/oval one in brass. Thats for my personal gear. I give the customer an option for that buckle, and make the belt for it. I let them either get the buckle on their own, or I add the price on to the belt price. The price is high, but they are US made, and look very good.

Otherwise, I put on the Tandy clipped corner buckles in either nickel plate or solid brass, depending on customer wishes.
