Al Stohlman did a book on inverted leather carving that also taught how to do sihlouette (SP?) and rough out carving. This rose pattern is one of my favorites out of that book. Peter Main also does a lot of inverted carving. It eliminates the need for a lot of backgrounding and gives a really clean look to your carving.
