Tiffany Report post Posted May 6, 2008 Is anyone familiar with this type of thread? I've seen it referenced as standard 3 cord, Polyester, waxed thread...is it a particular brand name? Noone in the States appears to carry it.

jimsaddler Report post Posted May 7, 2008 Like Potsie said,"Funny as a crutch Rich" Tiffany Tiger is a brand name that was on the market in the past. I'm not sure where it came from but it was cheap, Waxed Nylon. Unravel too easily for hand sewing. Okay for Machine sewing Light leathers. I got it from Hong Kong through a friend and didn't bother to buy more. Kindest regards. Jim.
Tiffany Report post Posted May 7, 2008 Jim Thanks for the reply. That's interesting. A few of the professional saddlers in the UK I've read on various boards use it...maybe that's just what's available?
gary Report post Posted May 9, 2008 Tiffany, In the UK it's a braided polyester or nylon thread. It's carried by Abbey Saddlery so a lot of saddlers use it. Comes pre-waxed in 1.4mm through to 0.8 mm. Gary
Kevin Report post Posted May 10, 2008 I get it from Windmill English Saddle Supply, 7186 Dewey Rd., Thompson,OH,44086 ph. (440)298-3018. I don't use it myself, so can't tell you about that, the guy that does seems to love it. I like to see the twist in the thread, braided thread looks like fly fishing line to me. Stitch on, Kevin
