anthony64 Report post Posted February 1, 2011 Hello everyone I am new to this sight ,but have been making leather goods for 6 plus years now, just thought i would get your thoughts on this recycled leather messenger bag. Thought the whole Levis thing would be cool. The bags overall dimensions are 13 by 13 and the gussett is 5 inch, two rear inside flat pockets, and a divider in the main compartment.the leather is a 4 - 5 oz. AndyL1 Report post Posted February 1, 2011 That is really cool. Unlike the recycled aspect of it with the text on there. Got more photos? Cheers, Andy

abn Report post Posted February 1, 2011 Very neat. I really like the Levi's theme, plus the use of rivets throughout the bag.

Somawas Report post Posted February 1, 2011 I'd probably like it better if the picture were smaller and would fit on the screen.
particle Report post Posted February 1, 2011 I'd probably like it better if the picture were smaller and would fit on the screen. That annoyed me too. It's a very nice looking bag, and I debated fixing the image size and re-posting it, but didn't, and instead found another way to view it. If you click+hold on the attachment, then drag it up to your web browser's URL (web address) bar or "New Tab" button, then release - it should open the attachment in a new browser tab. Cheers, Andy That should say "I LIKE" not "UNLIKE". I was on my iPod Touch when typing and it has an ultra-sensitive spell checker! HAHA! Nice work! Just an FYI: If you click the download icon (looks like a disc) next to the Close button on the bottom of the image it will appear in its own window at a viewable size. anthony64 Report post Posted February 1, 2011 I got the leather from a former levis employee ,who saved it from going in the trash can.I met this guy at my local bike shop I had made him a shoulder gadget holder ,and he wondered if I could use any of it.the pieces are 7 by 36 long,I received 15 of them,he said he had about 80 of them, now trying to get more. Looks great! Can you tell us more about where you actually got the leather?

JohnBarton Report post Posted February 2, 2011 Very very cool. I love to see material "repurposed". I also go to thrift shops and flea markets when I can looking for old suitcases and bags to get parts from. Those rings are pretty common on mass produced bags - you don't see them used on custom work very often. I find them to be one of the best hardware pieces for a bag. I often buy leather from brokers who specialize in buying up remnants from factories. In this way you can come across some very unique leather which otherwise wouldn't be possible to get because you couldn't afford to have it made. In addition to being often less expensive than buying from regular brokers it also somewhat insures the cases from being copied and keeps them unique. Good find - hope you can get more of the Levi's leather!
