Sixer Report post Posted March 4, 2011 Can anyone tell me about the Rex 26-188? What kind of leather will this machine handle, and would it work for holsters (2 layers of 7/8 oz HO) ??? Thanks!
Wizcrafts Report post Posted March 4, 2011 My buddy just sold his last month. It was good for 16 to 18 ounces of leather, with a #22 needle and #138 thread. The only problem was the pressor feet had teeth on the bottom. It made serious marks in veg-tan leather, but pulled leather through like a tractor. Sixer Report post Posted March 5, 2011 Thanks Wizcraft!Any idea if you can modify it so it won't mark up the leather?
Ferg Report post Posted March 5, 2011 Thanks Wizcraft!Any idea if you can modify it so it won't mark up the leather? You can grind/file the serrations off the feet. Be aware that both feet need to be exactly the same. If the machine isn't a walking foot the material may not go through when sewing. ferg
Wizcrafts Report post Posted March 5, 2011 The Rex 26-188 is a clone of the Singer 16-188 and is identical to the Consew 18. If you find somebody who has pressor feet for the Singer 16-188, or Consew 18, they will fit the Rex. Have you called Toledo Industrial Sewing Machines yet? They have all manner of pressor feet, feed dogs, parts and accessories for most makes and clones of industrial sewing machines.
