All the trouble with Artisans

Recommended Posts

I see alot of people out there having trouble with the Big Artisans! I have been to to many shows where the people selling them ( won't metion any names) can't even get them to sew! I have sewn an all the big stitchers, Hook and awl and Single needle. My opinion, for what it is worth, is buy an Adler 205! New or used. A little more money, but you get what you pay for. I have ran or worked in shops for 30 years and thats what I own! Thanks

Needless to say, I and all of us at Artisan strongly disagree with the above post.

I am rather suspicious of this post as well - because not only is it not true, it has been posted merely to cast doubt on an entire line iof machinery that already has an outstanding reputation.

Frankly, it should be deleted by the moderator.

Dave, I would say let it stand. As soon as peopleget home from work and see this, you will get tons of GOOD testimonials. Kevin

I'm not going to pretend to discuss sewing machines intelligently, but I can say that Artisan has exceptional customer service. In the last two years I have read many posts praising the staff at Artisan from people satisfied with their purchase. Frankly, I think this post is a little suspicious too, and I would ask the OP to please provide an example or a specific reason for "name-calling" or this thread will be closed per forum rules. In the meantime, I'm letting it be for the reason Kevin pointed out- the members of this board are obviously pleased with Artisan and will set the record straight.

The person apparently registered just to take a jab at artisan as competitor or ex-emplyee or something.

I am one very very happy customer with my Atrisan Torro 3000 plus the outstanding service I get on every call or email with Artisan.

Thank you Steve, Dave, and the crew at Artisan.

Hello Secondcrk,

We need some answers here. If you are going to bash a particular vendor, I think a little more than innuendo is necessary. A few facts might be in order.

What promulgated all of this venom about Artisan machines out of the blue?

Who are you that we should give any weight to your comments?

Who are all these people having trouble with big Artisans?

Who, pray God, are the vendors who can't get a big Artisan to run at a show. I have seen machines that had a bad casting and didn't run well, but nobody is going to bring something like that to a show. Even if a machine was sick, the guys who sell at shows can (most of them) take a machine apart and put it back together blindfolded....with one hand. The idea that any of the prominent vendors would have a machine that is working incorrectly at a show is just ludicrous.

OK, I have three Artisans (two big ones and one medium), two Pfaffs, a No.9, a Campbell, 3 Singers, and have owned and used Ferdcos and yes, an Adler. These are and were (don't have and Adler or Ferdco currently) great machines, all of them, and I beat the crap out of one of the big Artisans set up for high speed work. Just so you know where I'm coming from.

The folks at Artisan are pretty darned good at working with customers who a lot of the time are new first machine owners without a clue, and I know a few of these folks right here on this board who are having good experiences with their machines.

I couldn't let your post go unanswered. Please don't attack anyone's machinery if you don't own it, and then if there is a problem, work with the vendor before coming to this board and bad mouthing something for some reason we are unable to fathom.

Art

first time I have replied to anything on this site ............. but this person is FULL OF SOMETHING . I bought a artisan 3000 a few months back and it is a GREAT MACHINE does everythig I ask it too and more than they said it would . I find myself self going to my shop just finding stuff to sew because its so easy to use and does such a nice job.this thing will sew a single layer of suede then turn around and sew a saddle skirt with very little adjustment NO frustrations with this machine EVER !!!! I havent found a retailer out there selling ANYTHING that has better or actually even comes close to providing better service . Its NOT a GREAT MACHINE for the MONEY........... its a just a GREAT MACHINE PERIOD. And the service is so far ahead of other companies it has made my other encounters with other retailers disapointing because they dont even come in a close third or fourth place. This person could not have EVER even tried using one and if he had and had trouble I PERSONALLY gaurentee the company would have it rectified immediatly no matter what it took to straighten it out

I believe the word we're all looking for here is:

TROLL

IMO, the OP should be given opportunity to address Art's questions. If the OP declines that opportunity, or makes further inflamatory remarks, then corrective action should be taken by the Mods.

I love my Artisan. If I ever need another sewing machine it will be another Artisan. Not only are the machines good but their staff is excellent!

:excuseme: Noticed he hasn't been back to reply either, plus it was his first post. It's not likely for a person to register and post a bash like that without some provoking such as: What do you all think about Artisan...and so forth. Me thinks it's just a hit and run.

I have a small Artisan and I love it (I think my wife likes it more than me). I can't say enough about their customer service either. If it isn't right, they'll make it right.

Thanks Artisan. :thankyou:

Marlon

I got some names to call Artisan.........

amazing, astonishing, astounding, fantastical, incredible, marvelous, miraculous, phenomenal, prodigious, stupendous, unbelievable, wonderful, wondrous, fantastic, helpful, courteous, considerate, terrific.

I just hope the troll doesn't smear Adler's name by recommending it.

Go back and look through your posts! All I have read is problems with them! This is why I posted. As I stated This is my opionion! I have worked all day in my shop until now! I do it for a living! I do repairs and warrenty work for some of the biggest and well known stores in the western states, and no I do not work for a competator! Maybe some of you get by fine with the big Chinese Machines! I don't. What a bunch of haters! I posted this as an opionion! I do stand behind my opinions! I have forgot more about Big machines than most will ever know! Ban me, Take off my post! I really do not care! I make a living with Leather and Machines Ask Connie Nagel, ask Vernon Weaver, ask the Jean Blancs, Ask Bob Booth! Hell ask jack Butcher! I am sure they all have opionions. If this is that clicky of a site. I am sorry I ever got involved with it! I have alot of old(50s&60s) patters That I was willing to share as well as Original H.H. Heiser patterns that came from Fred Carlson! Any of you out there that know anything about H.H.H. Know he was one of the last saddle makers on the payrole in Denver before they shut down! Fotget that! I read things like The Landis 3 is a copy of the Campbell! Yeah right! The randell is the same machine except for a few screws! Not the #3! Maybe you guys can go back to your leather guilds and discuss this post. I really don't care. Keep on thinking what you want. I was reffered here by on of the top young saddle makers in the country, but boy was he wrong! I will close now as I have better things to with my time, Saddle Work. Thanks for letting me waste you space! Tom D. Walahoski

Wow, this thread convinced me to get an Artisan. Thanks, guys! :spoton:

Kate

PS to secondcrk: It's bad business to dishonestly discredit your competitors. You might have gotten a little more consideration if you had focused on your good points... if you have any... other than your product costs more.

Well, if you really wanted to be part of this community, I doubt you could have come in and made a worse first post. Well, maybe if you'd criticized Kevin King's wallets.....THAT wouldn't have gone over too well either. If you really did read the posts here, you would have known the folly of attacking Aritsan here......cliquey or not, the compliments on this board far outweigh the complaints. Plus, whenever you read here about a "problem" with an Artisan machine, you almost ALWAYS see the follow up of "....I called Artisan and what great service........" and the problem was solved.

I also have opinions about equipment, competitors, and politics, but I'm polite enough not to walk into someone's house and start spewing them about without listening awhile. I certainly wouldn't walk into your saddle shop and immediately start criticizing your work. If I did, I would expect to have some venom spewed at me as I was hustled out the door. The free exchange of ideas on the internet is what makes the internet great. The absence of common courtesy is what makes it not so great.

No doubt I'm wasting my typing here, since you've left to do your saddle work, but perhaps you can return some day and start off by introducing yourself in the proper sub-topic, post some of your work, and compliment someone else's work. No doubt I can learn something from you, besides your distaste of Artisan.

PS: In regards to your personal message to me, I'm already on speaking terms with the Lord. But thank you for your suggestions.

Russ
