Steve says the earthquake and Tsunami and a possible inspection for radiation at U.S. port since the shipment went through Japan has slowed up delivery a might. bullrope braider Report post Posted April 17, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the reply's, I've been learning all kinds of new things with the Cobra. A couple thoughts on my experience with the class 4, it's harder to sew a nice straight line than it looks, Lol. much less sewing around curves but didnt take long to get it going my way (that pile of crooked stitching leather was really scrap already is what I told my wife) as time moves on I know that pile shouldnt get too much bigger. I had to experiment with thread tension upper till I finally got it dialed in for the correct stitch top and bottom, this machine sews a very nice tight stitch and it's hard to see the difference between top stitch and bobbin stitch. I've made two pair of kid chaps for my two grandson's that I should of put off till I had more experience with the machine but I'll tell ya there's no time like the present to just jump in and start learning. from the first piece sewn you can see the improvement's made with the sewing by the time I was making the second pair the stitching was starting to look decent, not perfect yet but decent work. more important, the boy's love their new little chaps. I've ordered more thread in different sizes to match all my future projects so I'll be prepared. I'd like to thank Steve for the great DVD and extra information he include's in the manual, every little problem I encountered was simply answered either from the manual or a second look at the DVD. thank you Steve and your awesome crew for the great job packing/crating and shipping this machine so well and all the help you were in getting my machine to me. thanks again John a couple pic's of the new Cobra sitting in my little work room and just added the pic of the boy's showing off Edited April 17, 2011 by bullrope braider Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

bullrope braider Report post Posted May 5, 2011 they really liked the chaps, I've had parents asking about chaps for their kid's too from that day so I lined up more leather and looks like I'll be developing more pattern's pretty soon. I'm going to do some sewing repairs for some local team ropers to the headgear for the roping steer's soon as I get some heavier thread. Thanks for posting the pics and the update bullrope braider. Those young'uns look mighty proud of their outfits. Got my Cobra 4 last week. Woohoo! Was worth the wait. They delivered that rascal and had it sitting in my garage in about 10 minutes. It came on a wooden pallet and was well packaged up and banded. No shipping damage. Took me maybe a coupla hours to unpack it, assemble it and turn it on. Younger person could probably do it quicker. Was fun, but putting the head up on that stand is a handful! It's a might heavy. Thankfully I had some previous knowledge of sewin' machines so the put-together and set-up was fairly easy. Threading it wasn't as difficult as I had anticipated. The instructions and the DVD were helpful. Put in a 180/24 Organ NW needle that came with it and played with the tensions a bit and got my 277 bonded black nylon to running good through the top and my bobbin set good with 207 and started practicing sewing and gettin' used to the pedals and levers and such. After a coupla hours or so of practice I felt confident to start on my holsters. It's quiet and easy to control and I like that bobbin rewinding while you sew. Great LED lamp. I like this machine although I don't care for the stitch that particular needle makes. I got some 794D180/24 (triangle) needles on the way to get that stitch to straighten out. The Boss Tippman has done a good job for a coupla years now but my shoulder has 'bout given out crankin' that machine for so long. I eventually developed a pinched nerve in my shoulder area somewhere and sewing with it has been trial. The Cobra 4 showed up in the nick of time. Now I just sit back and watch this thing sew. Don't know what to do with my right arm now. Ha ha. Turned off the lights in the room and the machine didden glow so guess it didn't get any of that radiation on it during it's stop in Japan.
