8KCAB Report post Posted April 14, 2011 Stuff like that is my ultimate goal! Do you make your own rawhide or order it? Do you use anything besides good technique, rolling or a stick to make the buttons uniform in girth?

Leatherpownder Report post Posted April 15, 2011 Stuff like that is my ultimate goal! Do you make your own rawhide or order it? Do you use anything besides good technique, rolling or a stick to make the buttons uniform in girth? I bought this hide because I haven't had time to work any fresh hides. A good base with uniform string thickness and width are the main thing. If your bases are even then the cover knot should be even. Nice work Leatherpounder what did you use as a finish. The headstalls look nice as well. Mike Skidmores Beeswax waterproofing. A little goes a long way.

bergjes Report post Posted May 13, 2011 Looks amazing. Can I ask you a question? I noticed the real smooth transition from your loops. Can you explain how you do that? Thanks, Erik

Thanks, Erik I braid back the ends and let dry. Then you can wrap with string and roll smooth.
