Embossed pen case

My wife is a pen enthusiast and she asked if I'd make a leather pen case. I designed this one that is has just a single line of hand stitching up the middle. Hope you like it.

Tom, this is a really cool looking case. I also like the bottom closure idea. It says "embossed" how did you emboss the design on the lid?

Very nice and clever Tom! I saw some stuff like this in Scotland for the luxury items at the destilleries.

The bottom closure is what I usually call a "viking style seal/closure" since it's a method they used to close strap loops and such.

It looks good and is really a good way to close things.

Ken, the embossing is just a variation of wet forming. You just need a form to press the cased leather down into. I used to carve the negative into a block of parrafin with wood carving tools. With a scroll saw you can cut a sheet of plastic or plywood. You cut out the raised parts--no need to round anything off. Then with a small ball tool you press the cased leather down into the recesses. It gives a rich look with very little work.

That closure is cool cause while wet it is easy to insert the tab into the slot, but once dry it ain't going anywhere!
