impulse Report post Posted June 13, 2011 I make some of my own leathercraft tools and would like to build a splitter. My problem is that I have not even seen one in action and find it difficult to work out the critical design from pictures as there is such a variety around. Can someone please clarify with pictures and/or drawings of the parts required, angle of cutting blade, roller configuration etc....... Even if I could get a copy of a maker's manual that would help considerably. Where I live there is no Tandys, no Leather workers guild or any Leathercaft classes where I can get the information. Any help would be much appreciated. Lois

impulse Report post Posted June 14, 2011 here is a link for plans posted on here couple years ago for nice little wooden splitter... http://leatherworker...h=1 Thank you for your reply, but I am not looking for a lace splitter - I want to build a more substantial 6" to 10" steel leather splitter. JoelR Report post Posted June 21, 2011 I am working on a similar project. Still in the mental design phase. If I get anything solid put together I'll let you know. I think I have a good plan in my head but need to work out the finer details. What I am working on is based on an old Osborne design.

Lois if you have any libraries near you, you can check what they have in terms of reference material on the subject. if not, they should be able to do a search of the whole system to see whats available and have it brought in for you. im not sure if there are any u tube vids of one being used. i found most of my info via books.
