Hi guys,

I saw a leather worker putting a tape and glass fiber reinforcement on the middle of two leather strap to make a belt.

Where can I buy the tape and fiber reinforcement?

And I saw another leather worker using a black reinforcement on the bag. What is it? Where to buy?

Anyone knows?

Pictures are attached.

Chris

for some of the leather halters i repair, i use some of the black binding tape. iirc, it comes in 3/4 and 1" widths. not sure about the other stuff.

It looks, from the pictures to be black webbing. The other looks like simple cardboard.

There is a thread going now down in purses and belts.. about the same subject. Check that out also.

We use a thin cardboard like sheeting for stiffening our bags and belts. Check it out here Bag Stiffener

I have used bag stiffener from Tandy.

If your belts really need a stiffener, consider a second layer of leather. If you're just set on putting a stiffener in it, go to Lowe's or Home Depot and ask if you can have the scrap (trash) banding straps from bundled wood.
