Members chouinardragon Posted August 15, 2011 Members Report Posted August 15, 2011 Hi guys, I saw a leather worker putting a tape and glass fiber reinforcement on the middle of two leather strap to make a belt. Where can I buy the tape and fiber reinforcement? And I saw another leather worker using a black reinforcement on the bag. What is it? Where to buy? Anyone knows? Pictures are attached. Chris Quote

Chris for some of the leather halters i repair, i use some of the black binding tape. iirc, it comes in 3/4 and 1" widths. not sure about the other stuff. Quote
KAYAK45 Posted August 15, 2011 Report Posted August 15, 2011 It looks, from the pictures to be black webbing. The other looks like simple cardboard. There is a thread going now down in purses and belts.. about the same subject. Check that out also. Kevin Quote
Members theWildMare Posted August 15, 2011 Members Report Posted August 15, 2011 We use a thin cardboard like sheeting for stiffening our bags and belts. Check it out here Bag Stiffener Quote
Toby Tobias Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 I have used bag stiffener from Tandy. Quote

Contributing Member TwinOaks Posted August 29, 2011 Contributing Member Report Posted August 29, 2011 If your belts really need a stiffener, consider a second layer of leather. If you're just set on putting a stiffener in it, go to Lowe's or Home Depot and ask if you can have the scrap (trash) banding straps from bundled wood. Quote
