talon Report post Posted August 18, 2011 I'm looking to add a thumb break to a holster, but ideally it would be adjustable because the placement will be tricky. What hardware would one use do to this? I'm pretty sure I've seen this type of thing on cheaper nylon holsters. But I'm not quite sure. Thanks

Thanks I've made many nylon holsters with the thumb break strap actually 'fastened' to the holster itself with Velcro. This did give a great deal of versatility with only slight sacrifice in strength. The Velcro 'loop' on the holster pretty well blended in with the black Cordura. I do not think it would do the same on a leather holster. But, it could be used as a 'design element'.
Haystacker Report post Posted August 19, 2011 Can you possibly attach the strap to the front of the holster with a screw? Not sure if you can picture in your mind what I have in mine. But once you have everything set up, then just screw the strap onto the front of the holster. You would still make it with a thumb break but it would look like a strap keeper. Good luck, Jeff
Dwight Report post Posted August 20, 2011 If you were to use a 3/4 to 1 in wide strap, . . . you could use a bag punch, . . . put 4 holes in a row down the outside of the holster, . . . weave the strap down through it, . . . fillet or fray the end to make it look like part of the decoration, . . . you would be able to adjust it up and down to whateve you wanted to do with it. May God bless, Dwight
