276ccm Report post Posted June 8, 2008 Next project started.. a leather covered helmet.. :-) and it´s my first hand stitches.. I think maybe I`m going to have some pinup art on the sides, and maybe a flame in the middle part :-) or skulls all over :-)
Luke Hatley Report post Posted June 8, 2008 You have a good start ..... Back in the 70's me and a friend covered one with Buffalo Hair, wished we had a camera then!

Spider Report post Posted June 9, 2008 You beat me to it. I have been mentally contemplating this idea for a while. Good luck but you are doing awesome already. Just artwork and you are set. Hand stitching will not be too tough.

wolvenstien Report post Posted June 10, 2008 Couple questions for you.... How did you get the leather to "stick" to the helmet? You tuck it under the inside allow it to dry and put the trim back on? Glue? Like Spider, this is something I have been thinking about too... I bought me a halh helmet last summer that is covered in leather by the manufacturer, but because I bought it from a place that was going out of business, I was limited to a smaller size than I like on my head and I dont really like wearing it. So I want to see about covering my normally used one once my personal projects catch up....

So I want to see about covering my normally used one once my personal projects catch up.... I measured the pieces, cut them out (a bit larger than I needed) then shaped them until they fit with different tools... I didn´t think of to tuck it under the inside, but I guess thats a good advice to try next time.. then I sew it together, glued the leather on and then cout out the leftovers.. :-) just added a blonde.. :-)
276ccm Report post Posted June 11, 2008 Think I`m done for the moment.. until I find another "binding", what/if to do with the light stripe in the middle and find out what to do with the old knots... :-)
