Sortsol Report post Posted September 11, 2011 Hi, I am experiencing a case of bad customer service from the Artisan Sewing supplies company, being slightly baffled by this after reading just positive remarks about them here on the forum, I wonder if my case is an exception or just one of several? Ordered D,S and LR leather needles for my Juki 441 clone in their webshop on the 23rd of August, got the confirmation mail, but then inactivity and silence followed. The order is still marked as "new" and there is no response to my update inquiry emails. Should have given them a call probably, but being situated in Norway the phone is not a very economical way of communication. All tips as to were I can find alternative dealers, preferably with a webshop, is highly appreciated . On the same date as the Artisan order was made I ordered other items from various shops, and all the packages has arrived. Thank you for looking into my post! Artisan's customer service is some of the best anyone could imagine. Are you positive they even received your emails?? Any possibility your parcel could e stalled in your own customs division?? I will call Artisan on your behalf and alert them to this thread, then you might be able to communicate with them here. .....and yes, you should have given them a call. Paul Long (sheathmaker) Thank you for your initiative Paul! I would like to believe that there is more to this too, but I am starting to lose faith. The emails are marked as sent with no returned error messages and the customs would notify me right away if there was a package for me on hold. Looking forward to see what happens next.. Art Report post Posted September 12, 2011 All I can say is use Campbell Bosworth and get what you need. They are a very good source for Schmetz needles and have an eCommerce site. They also know how to answer the phone. I would tell you to use Bob Kovar for needles or Cobra Steve, but they don't have eCommerce sites that I know of. If you need something, you can always give either of them a call. Art Thank you for your initiative Paul! I would like to believe that there is more to this too, but I am starting to lose faith. Paul Long (sheathmaker) Morten, I talked with Jerry just a few moments ago and he said he had answered your email some time ago advising you that postage on one pack of needles would far exceed the value of the contents of the package, and advised you to buy the needles locally. Since his understanding that the order was for one (1) package of needles (10 needles) he felt his best service for you would be to advise you to buy locally. If that, in fact was the extent of the order, then I concur with his advise. Best Regards, Paul Long Edited September 12, 2011 by sheathmaker

Just rechecked and searched through my inbox, nothing from Jerry at Artisan, except an "automatic style" order confirmation. The order was also for several packages of needles, various types and sizes. Someone must have mixed their papers . Prefer to establish business relations with US dealers, more available products for leatherworkers and by far better prices, the needles was just a little test order to see how well the Artisan company serve international customers. Hope they take some action to get their banner straight again, in the mean time I will check out the links kindly posted here by other users. Thank you again for using your time on my issue Paul!! shannonH Report post Posted October 22, 2012 I'll put my two cents worth. But i have work with my father for 20 years and he used primarily a Ferdco which is great but they closed. But Kingmax has all the parts for many saddle machinery. You can get your supplies from them. They have schmetz, groz-beckert and singer needles. They were the Singer co. in Denver they have sizes of needle all the way down to size 18! I know that its kind of small for some leather machines but there available. There website is www.powersew.com. Drop them a email i'm sure they can give you great service that we have received from them for many years.
Spinner Report post Posted October 22, 2012 Back when I was shopping for a new sewing machine I called Artisan to inquire about their products and if they carried used machines. They are only a 1/2 hour away from me so it would have been perfect for service and such. All it took was one phone call to realize I never want to do business with them and if I have a serious machine issue I will drive twice the distance to see Steve at Cobra for service and will order my supplies online from other retailers. mike59 Report post Posted October 23, 2012 I've had nothing but frustration from Artisan for the past 2-3 years. I have 2 of their stitchers and their 20 inch splitter. They don't return phone calls, don't have answers to questions, etc. Very unprofessional.
