Members RunningRoan Posted January 7, 2012 Members Report Posted January 7, 2012 I'm ready to upgrade from my cheapie swivel knife to a nicer one. I have checked out (online) Leather Wranglers and Barry King ones. Any other suggestions for swivel knives that I should consider? Quote
Contributing Member Ferg Posted January 7, 2012 Contributing Member Report Posted January 7, 2012 I cannot speak for Barry King but Leather Wrangler SK3 is a superb knife. ferg I'm ready to upgrade from my cheapie swivel knife to a nicer one. Members RunningRoan Posted January 7, 2012 Author Members Report Posted January 7, 2012 I like the look of the SK3, but clueless on what size barrel/yoke I should get. I do notice that my hands cramp up a little if I hold my cheapie Tandy swivel knife for long periods of time. Would the larger barrel/yoke be more comfortable to hold? I'm a taller gal with long fingers, so my hands aren't teeny tiny. I cannot speak for Barry King but Leather Wrangler SK3 is a superb knife. ferg Quote
Contributing Member Ferg Posted January 7, 2012 Contributing Member Report Posted January 7, 2012 Call Paul at Leather Wranglers. Discuss your needs with him. My wife has long slender fingers like steel. I think you would need a larger barrel with adjustable length. My fingers are short and stubby. The 1/2 " suits me fine. ferg I like the look of the SK3, but clueless on what size barrel/yoke I should get. Members Tina Posted January 8, 2012 Members Report Posted January 8, 2012 Me too...I just Love my SK3 knife :-) Being a woman and having bigger, strong hands I still have the most narrow (smallest) barrel on my knife, I love it and I never cramp up. Ferg's suggestion about calling Paul seams like your best opption, good luck :-) Quote

We all have our favorites, but there are at least a couple other makers not mentioned yet to consider too - Henley and Chuck Smith (Ol Smoothie). Quote
Members Chef niloc Posted January 8, 2012 Members Report Posted January 8, 2012 I like the king and think its the best bang for the buck. Just got a beard and you know it's the bet but the wait time and price are long and high. I also have a SK3 and it's a great knife and Paul is great to work with. I'd start with the SK3, its the one i use the most and you would never NEED a better knife.....but it's fun to have a collection. Quote
Members colttrainer Posted January 9, 2012 Members Report Posted January 9, 2012 I have had the pleasure of trying all the makers listed. My personal choice are the henly"s with a 5/8 long barrel. He also has the best beader blades going in my opinon. Al Quote
