Mauled By The Bearman

After using the same rawhide mallet from Tandy since the early 1970's I decided to treat myself to a couple of new mauls. I just recieved my mauls from BearMan (Ed Labarre) they are fantastic. Now I have a dilema, I can't bring myself to hammer these mauls against anything and I can no longer bring myself to touch that 40 yearold mallet. I may never get another project done. I guess I will just have to sit here and polish my mallets and drool over them.

I know how you feel, I just got my 18 oz maul from Beary (Ed's son) and its absolutely beautiful. I have yet to use it but first I'll take some pictures. It feels great and well balanced.

Those look nice... I kind of want to try one. Do they have a different technique to use them compared to a rawhide mallet?

Nice I just got my maul last month they are the best around wish i could have got 2. Also I use mine and will never go to any other.

I just got my new maul from "Bearman" today!!! I am so tempted to throw my Tandy maul away! Anybody not using one of these is crazy IMHO. Handles well and the one he made me came in at 20.4 oz and works so much better than the 1 lb Tandy maul. Plus it is absolutely beautiful. If I ever need another one I know I will not hesitate to get another one from him. Plus he told me that mine was the FIRST one to come out of the new shop.....makes it even more sentimental with that knowledge.

Oh nice! I have one on the list. Absolutely cannot wait to see it. Lining up projects so that I should have some good work to do once I get it, hehe.
