Been a while... Recently apart from knife pouches and sheats I've been making straps for pocket watches. It's my modification of WWI strap.

My grandfather had something similar, except the wrist strap threaded through the front and had a wide middle to hold the watch in. This is very cool. I must go buy a pocketwatch and make one for myself. I may add a flap to protect the crystal. Good work! Those are beautiful.

Thanks for your comments! This is very fun project to do. There are more on their way.

Looks nice. One question though, what happens to the "lid" of the pocket watch???

Watch from the photo was only for photo :D All watches I make those straps for are open without the lid.

I have to ask! How the hell do you get the watch in the strap?

The strap is open on one end. The watch snaps inside. If you look at the back view of the strap, the stitching only goes up halfway, so it leaves an opening in case you want to use a different watch or clean it etc.

Those are gorgeous, love the first most of all with the contrasting stitching.

These look VERY nice! Such a great idea. And yeah, how DO you get the watch in? Is that a Chicago screw for the rivet? But I'm confused as it looks to be stitched down...

Cheers,

Andy

Really nice work. And a great idea as well. I have never tried to wet mold leather before. Is it hard to do on something small like these?

First of all , thanks ! The top is wet formed for each watch. Its half way stitched to the strap. The other half is open leaving enough space to fit the watch. Chicago screw to close it. You should be able to see it in the last photo. Few more examples.
